The problem hit home first. When Naga’s son faced the all-too-familiar challenge of unreliable, expensive transportation between college and home, it crystallized what millions of students and families experience daily. Rather than accept this as “just how things are,” Naga saw an opportunity to revolutionize university transportation through technology.
That’s exactly the kind of systems thinking that built his career. As Senior Vice President at ThoughtFocus, Naga architected and scaled their Payments Solutions division from concept to a $15M+ business vertical serving 50+ major payment processors with 300+ employees globally. His division became instrumental in ThoughtFocus securing PE investment in 2023, contributing 20-25% of company revenue.
This wasn’t his first time building something from nothing. Over 30+ years, Naga has consistently delivered scalable technology solutions that solve real business problems. At HP (Compaq), he engineered firmware for multiprocessor server systems. At Unisys Corporation, he developed Unix operating systems. But it’s the combination of deep technical expertise with proven business leadership that makes UniRoutes different.
UniRoutes isn’t just another bus company – it’s a technology-first transportation platform specifically for the university ecosystem. Naga’s vision leverages cutting-edge logistics optimization, real-time tracking, dynamic routing, and seamless payment integration to deliver what students actually need: flexibility, reliability, and affordability.
The credentials back up the vision. Currently pursuing his Executive Certificate in Digital Business from MIT with focus on AI in Business Strategy, Naga also holds a Project Management certificate from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering with Computer Science honors from SJ College of Engineering.
When he’s not reimagining student transportation, you’ll find this automobile enthusiast and lifelong tennis player on the courts daily, applying the same strategic thinking that built multiple successful technology businesses.
